29March2020: After fifteen days (15) and going, we are still locked/quarantined into the moments (hours and days) of life because the government wants to fully contain the spread of the corona virus that plague 199 countries & territories, 737,577 cases. 156.295 recovered and 35,000 deaths as of 30March 2020 worldwide. (https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/)
What have you done during these fifteen (15) days to help yourself, your family and your community?
As a senior in my 70th years (on 22 April 2020) of colourful living (ups & down trails thru life’s journey) together with my 61 years old wife, the announcement of PRRD on 13th March 2020 about the institution of lockdown & community quarantine effective midnight of 15th March 2020 Sunday, initially made us alarmed for several minutes.
However, being aware of the world’s scene/news about the contagious effect of the new corona virus we recover quick enough to make a list of essentials since we’re the “vulnerable” in this plague crisis.
• We have enough stocks of maintenance and other over-the-counter medicines for a week
• We have 1 bottle 250ml ethyl alcohol, some bars of hydrochloride soap, 1 bottle 1000ml zonrox
• We have a supply of rice for 4-days, and some frozen fish/poultry, canned goods.
• We have some indispensable fruits/root crop to ripen/take as needed (calamansi, pomellos, bananas, guyabanos, jackfruits, guavas and cassavas.
• We have 2 gallons of mineral water
• We will establish communication channels with our children, relatives and friends
As prevention is better than cure, we observed seriously the government’s preventive warnings during our daily stretching-exercises and home activities.
• Social distancing by keeping our distance from other humans avoiding too close to those coughing, sneezing and farthing (old habits that never dies).
• Ideally we minimize contact and keep at least 6ft away but we continue to say “I rub you,” and we display our affection by forming heart signs on our chest and blowing kisses.
• Regular washing of hands with soap and water
• Don’t touch your eyes, nose, or mouth if your hands are not clean
• Drinking water frequently
• Taking power nap regularly after one hour breather from lunch
• We keep tuned to daily nCovid19 news updates
• And we don’t forget not to distance ourselves from God, the Father Almighty for He draws close to us in our time of need. Our personal routine chat to Him became repetitive.
Note: If you wish to better see how we’re doing &/or to send something helpful, video chat would be best via messenger/viber. At times, we don’t have prepaid internet connection due to funding. However, unless you really insist to send help, you can pm me for my bank account.
Passion, patience, perseverance, preparation, discipline & faith made me to tend, care & guard #geannhomegarden the gift, creation & loan from God. As my gratitude to His blessings I tried my best to become a responsible steward of His creations never to be used at my whim. My dream is to turn #geannhomegarden into a botanical garden for fellowship of the ageing people in the community.
I never stop believing in hope as a constant dreamer since my boyhood; miracles do happens every day. With appropriate wisdom, guidance & treatment anything will recover with new life. We can win over nCovid19. (eg #geannhomegarden was a watery meadow from day one. To date, the garden eventually bursts forth with colourful greens (fruit bearing trees, garden plants & flora, root crops, herbs & spices and wild birds).
I hope all the people of Mother Earth will stand united and stay away from mistreating our natural World resources so we’ll never stumble (again) upon a crisis like the pandemic nCovid19.
Finally, let me share to you these comforting words: “I’m weak against nCovid19 but I believe that God will shield my weakness with His power and grace, Amen.”
